2012 isn’t only year of new gadget. There’re also many technology breakthrough that we can find this year. One of them is Kuafu Project, the spacecraft project from China.
Kuafu Project is a project that consists of three satellites. These satellites will be the main part that will support the space weather forecast system that China have. Kuafu Project satellites are Kuafu A, Kuafu B1 and B2. The Kuafu A will be located at the L1 Lagrangian point and Kuafu B1 and B2 will be located in same orbit as earth, but with different period and speed. The three satellites will be used for observing that Sun weather. The Kuafu A will observe solar extreme UV (EUV) and far UV (FUV) emission. It also collect the data about white-light CMEs, radio bursts, and local plasma and particle distributions that coming from sun. The Kuafu B1 and B2 will be the satellite that observes aurora borealis and inner magnetosphere. They constantly take image of this phenomenon and send the data to the data center.
This project now is waiting for the CNSA order to be launched. And maybe, with Kuafu spacecraft, we will know what would happen with solar storm that people say it will happen in 2012.
